The trip should come first.
Buying and storing a camping setup can make a simple weekend feel like a large commitment. Meanwhile, useful equipment sits idle between trips. WeCamp connects those two needs through local rentals.
A peer-to-peer camping gear marketplace built around the full trip: discover a kit, book, prepare, pick up, get support, and return.

AT A GLANCE
Product strategy · marketplace UX/UI · web engineering · operations workflows
Responsive web marketplace
Regional pilot preparation · paid bookings not open
THE STARTING POINT
WeCamp is being built to make camping gear easier to access and useful equipment easier to share. Renters discover kits from local hosts, compare what is included, and plan a trip around the equipment they actually need.
THE CASE STUDY / HOW IT WAS BUILT
Buying and storing a camping setup can make a simple weekend feel like a large commitment. Meanwhile, useful equipment sits idle between trips. WeCamp connects those two needs through local rentals.
The product organizes discovery around complete kits, trip needs, and terrain. Renters can compare equipment inclusions and pricing, while hosts manage the kits they want to share.
The product scope follows the rental through preparation, pickup, return, and support. Packing guidance and trip details help connect the marketplace screen to the real-world handoff.
WeCamp is preparing a DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia pilot. The current public experience invites early interest; paid bookings are not open. A focused region gives the team a practical starting point for testing the service.
INSIDE THE PROTOTYPE / REAL DEVELOPMENT SCREENS
From choosing a camping kit to closing out a return, the prototype connects the screens to the work a marketplace needs to do.
The comparison experience brings group size, rental duration, kit tiers, and included equipment into one view. It separates the rental cost, service fee, and refundable deposit so the renter can understand the commitment.
Prototype pricing guide. Prices shown are examples, not a live offer. Setup illustrations are AI-generated; they do not depict verified rental inventory.

The work spans the public brand and pilot website, renter discovery, host equipment records, reservations, payment flows, trip support, and administrative review. The prototype makes those handoffs tangible before real-world rollout.
THE FULL PRODUCT JOURNEY
We’re building the experience around the whole trip: the renter, the host, the equipment, and the work behind every reservation.
Search by dates, group size, and trip needs. Compare kit tiers, equipment inclusions, availability, and booking totals before making a decision.
Renter profiles, saved gear, and a connected booking flow bring the trip together. Inventory and overlapping dates are checked against the host’s equipment.
A saved packing list keeps the booked equipment attached to the reservation, from confirmation through the trip. Every camper can see what is included.
Pickup details and equipment checks give the renter and host a shared reference before the gear leaves for the trip.
TripAssist brings trip details, equipment reports, photos, and replacement requests into the same service journey, with review where a person needs to decide.
Return checks and inspection workflows connect the physical equipment back to booking operations, deposit review, and the next available rental.

These real development screens show the same saved equipment list carried from booking confirmation into trip support. The example reservation is a test fixture, not a customer trip.
BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE
Profiles, saved gear, kit comparisons, reservations, packing lists, and trip support connect discovery to the return.
Equipment records, kit setup, availability, booking management, and pickup and return workflows support the local rental experience.
Equipment review, booking and payment oversight, issue triage, and inspection workflows give the business a place to manage exceptions.
PAYMENT WORKFLOW / SANDBOX VALIDATED
The development payment flow has demonstrated checkout, a deposit refund, a host balance transfer, and a sandbox bank payout, with refreshed payment status.
Sandbox transactions only. No live funds or customer rentals. Real-world equipment, host onboarding, operating policies, and the regional pilot still need commercial validation.
THE NEXT CHAPTER / REGIONAL PILOT
The planned home for WeCamp. Domain connection is still pending; public paid bookings are not open.

THE PRODUCT DIRECTION
Start with a focused pilot in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Build a dependable experience around complete kits, clear pricing, and the handoff between renter and host before expanding the marketplace.
